Think of this as the afternoon photos.
The fortune teller came!
She had many interesting things to tell Miss Sally Brown
And promised better fortunes and comforts to the maids
The mantua maker, surpris’d!
The fortune teller even told visitors’ fortunes
Miss Ruth Smith asked for advice on a new gown
The deliveryman arrived with an order wine an empty bottle and a full head
Mr Taber shared his fashion plates with visitors
News of a happy future for Sally and Carl
Caught sleeping!
Battledore and shuttlecock
Lawn games
Mrs Brown and Mrs Brown!
Mr Mason and wife Alice; Mr Herreshoff and fiancee Sally
The ensemble
Eliza!
Bonnet swapping
And, finally, all done.
Wonderful photos! I’ve really enjoyed seeing them. What a great way to engage the public and encourage them to think about history in different ways. I think visitors gain so much more by interacting with interpreters/actors at sites. Having worked at a living history museum in the past, (and visited many more myself!) I know I enjoy the visit a great deal more after having a fun, and yes, educational discussion. 🙂

Felt a little like I was there! From visitors’ looks, they were engaged and enjoying it all. Great fun.
Very best,
Natalie
I ADORE the closeup of the back of your gown! Gorgeous work!
And fancy you catching that wine mistake….
Wish we could’ve been there in person, but this is next best,
N
